Tim Brown, membership services coordinator, was an active member of the Friends of the Georgia Museum of Art, having served as president, treasurer, and chair of eight Friends events prior to joining the museum staff in 2005. He is responsible for administering all aspects of the Friends organization, including membership, fundraising events, and outreach efforts.
Brown eared a B.A. in English literature from the University of Georgia and participated in its masters program for Modern British Literature, including two summers at Oxford University. In 1998 he served as the public relations and tourism manager for the Athens Convention and Visitors Bureau, where he directed the national and regional publicity efforts for Athens-Clarke County.
In 1999 he became a GALILEO Communications Specialist for the University System of Georgia, where he created and implemented a marketing plan for GALILEO, the system's virtual library. He was named managing editor of Southern Distinction magazine in 2004, where he supervised the editorial process from conception to publication and wrote numerous articles on a variety of subjects.
