Did you know it all started in Athens, Georgia in 1891? That's right, the first garden club in America was founded in Athens by the twelve members of the Ladies' Garden Club.
The Ladies' Garden Club is still a member club of the Garden Club of Georgia, Inc. Those twelve pioneering women set a course for beautification, conservation, and education. The Garden Club of Georgia, Inc., cordially invites you to join a member garden club of our organization, start a new club in your area, become a Subscribing Member, or become a Corporate Member. Plant Societies in Georgia may also join and become affiliated with GCG.
Are you interested in learning about horticulture, landscape design, native plants, or how to design a floral arrangement? Perhaps you are interested in working on environmental issues or maybe you want to know how to go about planning a nature garden at your child's school. Becoming a member of a garden club affiliated with the Garden Club of Georgia can help to provide you with the education and experience you seek. This international organization has over 243,000 members.
You will receive our award-winning quarterly publication, Garden Gateways. This publication contains news of the state organization and member clubs, announcements for various seminars, and plenty of garden-related information.
You are invited to attend the gala annual convention of our organization each spring as it rotates locations throughout Georgia.
You will be a member of your home District which implements the State program on a local level in your area of Georgia. A District meeting is held each fall and you will be invited and encouraged to attend to learn and be inspired about garden club work.
