Projects and Programs

The Litter Committee sponsored a contest for the club who has mounted the best program fro recycling and to fight litter. The Thomasville Garden Club was the winner. At a recent GCG Board Meeting, Board Member Mary Tomlinson modeled an "outfit" made from all the various items one finds deposited along highways: plastic bags, aluminum cans, pop-tops, Styrofoam containers, fast food cups, etc.
Litter Control: Pick Up for Georgia

GCG is encouraging all garden clubs to redouble their efforts in an anti-litter campaign. President Sara Lanier is seeing green, and it isn't beautiful green roadsides.

Sara and the GCG Litter Committee have vowed to eliminate these green monsters that are often overflowing eyesores in our counties. GCG encourages all club members to talk to their local officials to clean up or remove such dumpsters. GCG supports anti-litter education, enforcement, eradication and going green. All garden clubs in Georgia are encouraged to protect our environment by participating in a recycling program, as well as to make a joint effort to remove litter from our environment and educate citizens on litter prevention.
