Meet Sara Lanier, Georgia's President continued from home page
Sara is a member of the Neptune Garden Club and over the past 22 years she has held various committee chairmanships in her home club. She served as Treasurer, First Vice President and President of Neptune Garden Club and has been an active member of the St. Simons Council of Garden Clubs, serving as Presidents for two terms. She has chaired numerous committees on the St. Simons Council.
Sara was Co-Director of the Oleander District and served as District Director in 1995-1997. She has served as Membership Chairman and Calendar Chairman, and was honored by the Oleander District as "Outstanding Garden Club Member" in 1993.
On State Board, she has served as Co-Chairman for Membership Development; 4th Vice President for Membership; 3rd Vice President as Plant for Hope Chairman; and 1st Vice President as Awards Chairman. She has served on the Deep South Board as Organic Gardening Chairman. She is a National Garden Club Life Member, Deep South Region Life Member and Garden Club of Georgia Life Member. Sara has attended the Environmental Studies School, lacks one course finishing the Garden Studies School, and the Basic Design Course.
Other membership activities include St. Simons Presbyterian Church, Daughters of the American Revolution, United Daughters of the Confederacy, and National Society of the Daughters of the War of 1812. She has served as Chairman and Co-Chairman of the St. Simons Beautification Council and as a member of Keep Brunswick Golden Isles Beautiful, the Clean Sweep Board, and the Land Trust. Sara has served five years on the Glynn County Tree Board and three years on the St. Simons Island Friends of the Park Board, and is a former member of the Golden Isles Dolls Club and Red Hat Society.
Sara's hobbies are garden clubbing, antiquing, bird watching, collecting dolls, collecting vintage postcards and traveling back roads throughout Georgia.
