GCSC Mission

The mission of the Georgia Christian Student Center is to help students discover a relationship with Jesus by:

  • Loving and encouraging one another through activities and involvement
  • Involving students in ministry and service on campus, in the community, throughout the state, and across the nation and world
  • Growing in order to guide others to Jesus
  • Honoring our Father with lives committed to worship and prayer
  • Training and equipping followers to reflect the character of Christ.

The Campus View church of Christ began reaching out to the University of Georgia campus in 1966. Six years ago, the church decided to recommit to the campus outreach by hiring a full-time campus minister. The ministry was given the title, Georgia Christian Student Center (GCSC) and the motto, "Christians Who Just Happen To Be Students." The motto reflects the ministry's integral role in the enhancement of the spritual education of our state's youth.

As a result of our mission, students who participate with the Georgia Christian Student Center will be involved in a ministry that:

  1. Provides lifelong friendships with other Christians
  2. Develops a breeding ground for evangelists
  3. Has intellectually challenging Bible studies and classes
  4. Builds a strong alumni base for keeping relationships strong for years
  5. Incorporates a powerful internship program
  6. Provides strong mission efforts to participate in (inner-city and foreign)
  7. Offers a social alternative to fraternities and sororities
  8. Provides meaningful worship environments
  9. Gives ample opportunities to be a part of a growing church body
  10. Makes a difference on campus and in the community.

Along with the University of Georgia's commitment to excellence in academics, research, and athletics, the Georgia Christian Student Center, with its mission and core characteristics, endeavors to help the university become a premiere spiritual institution. Through its programs and practices, it seeks to foster the respect and support from alumni and churches across the state. The Georgia Christian Student Center is committed to helping the University community appreciate the critical importance of a quality spiritual environment.
