Dear GEAC Members,

As everyone is no doubt aware, the State of Georgia is experiencing a severe budget crisis that is having an adverse impact on our State's public institutions of higher learning. To that end, Chancellor Erroll Davis has requested that we cancel all non-essential travel, specifically conferences and seminars. In order to make a good faith show of support for the State's budget situation, the Officers and Board of Directors of GEAC, after consulting with some members from the private institutions in our organization, have made the painful decision to cancel this year's Annual Conference scheduled to be held in November on St. Simon's Island. None of us like this alternative and all of us are very reluctant to take this drastic action, but we feel like it is the right thing to do given the financial constraints in the state and our desire to maintain strong relationships with our members who are most affected by the budget situation and the Board of Regents and their staff. It also was clear that many GEAC members would not be able to attend as the budget shortfall affected some individual institutions more severely. We fully intend for this to be a temporary situation and expect to return to our regular meeting schedule as soon as the budget situation allows. In the interim, the Board will do everything in its power to provide continued support and networking opportunities for higher education advancement professionals in Georgia. As we work out the details of what the programming opportunities are going to be during this difficult time, we will communicate them to the membership via electronic newsletter and/or the GEAC Web site. Please look for future communications about how GEAC will continue to serve you and how you can continue to make GEAC a viable and vibrant organization for many years to come.

If you work in educational advancement including the areas of alumni, development, public relations/public affairs, and communications at a public and private Georgia college, technical school, or university you are a member of GEAC. There are no membership fees.

Each college or university has a directory administrator who is listed on your institution's directory page. Email that person with your current contact information.
