Meeting Minutes for September 23, 2003
1)Publicity:
Our goal for the year is to increase awareness of our club.
Thanks to everyone that came to our meeting, but we'd still
like more people to get involved.  We could use help on
handing out flyers, and we are also planning on forming
committees for our community service projects and our
induction ceremony.  We will have sign-up sheets at our
meetings, and you can get all of the officers' e-mail
addresses at www.uga.edu/~gknhs if you have any questions.
2)Community Service:
We have several community service projects planned for the
semester.  One is to collect tabs from soda cans for the
Ronald McDonald House.
We also plan on having a sock drive.  We'd like to make it a
competition against Georgia Tech, and all of the socks will
be donated to the Food Bank for the homeless.  We will
probably set up stations outside of the Dollar Store or
distribute boxes at Greek houses.  Any other ideas are
welcomed.
October 5th is the National Gandhi Day of Service, and
anybody interested in participating can contact Kunal at
mitrak@earthlink.net.
We are also continuing to volunteer with the Boys and Girls
Club on Fridays.  You can sign-up for it at our next meeting.

Meeting Minutes for April 21, 2003
Last Monday was our final meeting of the semester.  We thought of some
activities for next fall.
Volunteer Activities:
We decided to start volunteering with the homeless shelter, but we will
also continue to volunteer with the Boys and Girls club on Fridays.
Social Activities:
We also decided that we would try to get members together outside of the
meetings.  We thought about bowling, rock climbing, the ropes course,
block seating to sporting events, and trivia.
Membership Drive:
Next fall we will need to recruit new members because our initiation
ceremony will take place that semester.  We will probably hang up fliers
and set up tables at Tate.
International Conference:
From July 31 to August 3, Golden Key will host its international
convention in Chicago, Illinois.  The trip is for officers and members,
and it is free, so if anybody is interested in going then let us know.
Well, that's it for the semester.  Good luck on finals and I hope that
everybody has a great summer.

Meeting Minutes for April 7, 2003
ATTENTION  SENIORS:  If there is anybody graduating next month that
hasn't ordered their honor cord yet, contact Kunal at kmitra@uga.edu.
Sophomore Recognition:
Takes place this Sunday, April 13th at 6:00 PM.  We'd like old members
to attend as well and greet the upcoming juniors.  The dress is business
casual, and we'll have free food.  We also plan on giving away prizes to
the sophomores, such as a gift certificate or free T-shirt.  The banquet
will be held in Tate at the Reception Hall.
Relay for Life:
Relay was last weekend, and it was a success.  Our team raised over
$1200 for the American Cancer Society (See a picture of our camp site here).
Thanks to everyone that participated and for helping us raise money.
You all did a great job!
Honorary Member Luncheon:
The luncheon took place on March 25, and everything went well.  We are
thinking of having another one next semester instead of just in the
spring.  This way, we will be able to invite some of the other honorary
members to lunch.
Also, if anybody has a suggestion for our next honorary member, you can
e-mail me the name of the professor or let us know at the next meeting.
Our final meeting of the semester will be on April 21 at 6:00 PM in

Meeting Minutes for March 24, 2003
Hey everybody.  Here are the minutes from our last meeting.
Honorary Member Luncheon:
The luncheon took place on Tuesday, March 25 at 12:30 in the Memorial
Dining Hall.  At the meeting we just wanted to make sure that everything
was in order for the lunch.

track.  It states that there will be no smoking, alcohol, or pets at the
event.  There was also a sign-up sheet for walking times throughout the
night.  We decided that we are going to dress up as jailers with keys
because our theme is "Unlocking the cure for cancer."  Also, the
fundraising money is due on Wednesday April 2.  Jessica will be at Tate
on the 1st floor to collect the donations.  She will also be there
Thursday night to hand out T-shirts and bracelets.

Will be held on Sunday April 13.  We decided to have the postcards sent
out to all of the sophomores last week.
Karaoke-for-Kids:
This is a charity sponsored by Gamma Sigma Sigma, and it will be held on

Meeting Minutes for March 10, 2003
Hey guys, here are the minutes from our last meeting.  Remember, you
will receive points for each meeting you attend and for each event you
participate in.  The person with the highest points will win a free
honor cord.
Our main focus of the night was Relay for Life:
For those participating, your $10 registration fee was due at the
meeting.  You can still pay if you haven't already, but you may not get
the T-shirt size that you'd like.  We still have a few spots open, so if
anybody is interesting, e-mail Jessica at jesswebb@uga.edu.  Our theme
will be "Unlocking the Cure for Cancer," and our decorations will be
keys and locks.  Furthermore, the money that each of us has to raise
will be due on April 2nd, and the event is from April 4th to the 5th.
Honorary Member Luncheon:
A reminder, the luncheon will be on Tuesday March 25 at 12:30.  We still
need more people to sign up for the event.  You can choose 1 or 2
faculty members to invite, but you also have to be responsible for
bringing them.  For more information, contact Ben at bendog82@uga.edu.
Boys and Girls Club:
At every meeting we will be having sign-up sheets to volunteer on
Fridays.  If Friday is no good, then you can sign-up for another day.
For anybody that is interested, let us know at the next meeting.
We also discussed the Concepts article that is due at the end of the
week.  We wanted to remind those who signed-up that their paper is due
on the 15th.
Our next meeting will be on Monday, March 24 at 6:00 PM in Tate, Room
141.  I hope to see you there, and I hope that everyone has a great
Spring Break.

Minutes of the February 24, 2003 Meeting of Golden Key
Relay for Life:
The event will take place on April 4th and 5th.  If anybody is
interested in the event you can sign up at the next meeting.  The fee is
$10, which includes a T-shirt and food, and you can make checks payable
to the American Cancer Society.  We also need to come up with a
fundraiser and theme for our team.
Honorary Member Luncheon:
We decided to re-schedule the luncheon to Tuesday March 25 so that we'd
have more time to prepare for the event.  It will be held at 12:30 in
Memorial Hall, but we still need more people to sign up to invite a
member.  For more info, you can e-mail Ben at bendog82@uga.edu.
MS Walk:
We are also thinking of participating in the MS Walk, which takes place
on Saturday March 15 in Augusta.  Because this is the weekend before
Spring Break, we may not have the event unless there is enough people
that would like to sign-up.
Ropes Course:
Our social event for the semester will be the Ropes Course at Lake
Herrick.  This includes a series of 4 courses, and the cost is $12.  If
anybody is interested, you can let us know at the next meeting.  Before
we can decide on a date, we first need to know how many people plan on
attending, so also let us know when is convenient.
Concepts Article:
Every year GK chapters need to submit a couple of articles to the
Concepts magazine.  The articles are due March 15, and they need to be
500 to 1000 words in length.  It can be written about anything, such as
personal experiences, a community service project, or an honorary
member.  We will be submitting two articles, and if anybody is
interested let us know because it is due in only a couple of weeks.
Convention News:
The regional conference was last weekend in Jacksonville.  VP Ben Wright
and I attended, and we came up with some ideas to improve our society.
We have decided to re-enact the point system that awards points for each
meeting that members attend and for each activity you are involved in.
The person with the highest number will win a free honor cord for
graduation, which costs $30.  The upcoming national convention will be
held in Chicago from August 31-July 3, so be thinking about whether or
not you'd like to attend.
New Committee:
We are thinking about enacting a fundraising committee.  If anybody is
interested, let us know at the next meeting and be thinking of some
ideas to raise money.
Boys and Girls Club:
If anybody would like some volunteer hours and to work with children,
then you can sign-up to work at the Boys and Girls club on Fridays.
Contact Brian at bmt@uga.edu or sign-up at the next meeting.
Our next meeting will be Monday, March 10 at 6:00 in Tate, Room 141.  If
you have any questions or concerns, you can e-mail me at
slacheen@uga.edu.

Minutes of the February 10, 2003 Meeting of Golden Key
The meeting started with an introduction of the new officers. We look
forward to this upcoming year, as we have several activities planned
for the semester. Our goal is to increase awareness of our society and
for more members to attend meetings and to get involved.
Guest Speakers:
We had a few guest speakers at our meeting today. The first two were
Darcy Ryan and Chua Tan. Both are running for Senators of Franklin
College. You can visit their website at www.uga.edu/REAL for
information on their platforms, and you can also check out who else is
running. Don't forget to vote Feb. 11 and 12 on Oasis.
Our other guest speaker at the meeting was Sarah Packer for AIESEC.
AIESEC is a student run organization on campus that helps find paid
international internships. Some of the fields are in marketing,
finance, information technology, social work, and English education.
The internships are usually 2 to 7 months long. For more information,
there will be an info session on Thursday, Feb. 13 at 8:00 PM in
Sanford Hall, Rm. 213.
Upcoming Activities:
Relay for Life. At the meeting we had a sign-up sheet for the event,
which takes place on April 4 and 5. Anyone who is interested in
participating this year can contact our Community service officer
Jessica at jesswebb@uga.edu or sign-up at our next meeting in 2 weeks.
She will also be e-mailing the listserve with information on the event
at a later date.
Boys and Girls Club. This semester we have added on a new service
activity with the Boys and Girls Club. Sign-up sheets were available at
the meeting, and if any other members are interested, you can sign up
at our next meeting as well.
Honorary Luncheon:
On March 6 we will be having a luncheon for all our honorary members.
Honorary members are UGA faculty members that have been asked to join
the society. We will need people to contact an assigned member and
invite them to the luncheon. We will also need you to pick up the
member and bring him or her to the event. This will be a great way to
get involved and to meet some professors.
Regional Conference:
During the meeting we watched a short video on the conference, which is
Friday February 21 to the 23rd. The conference is on training and
leadership skills, and it will be in Jacksonville, Florida. We still
need at least one more male and one female to attend, preferably
someone who will be here next year. The trip is completely free, and we
will be leaving sometime around 8:00 in the morning and will return on
Sunday.
