GLOBES MISSION STATEMENT
GLOBES is a diverse organization of faculty, staff, and administrators, whose mission is to advocate for, develop, and nurture UGA's LGBTQ communities. In partnership with our allies, including students, alumnae/i, and local community members, we strive to educate, to improve campus climate, and to foster progressive change as we visibly work for social justice, equity, and queer rights at UGA and beyond.
EVENTS
GLOBES often has presentations, held either at Tate Student Center or the Student Learning Center (SLC). Events are announced via postings to the GLOBES listserv and on the GLOBES News page.
GLOBES holds the annual Fall Reception early in the fall semester to welcome new and returning UGA employees, allies, and the community. The annual Winter Social & Potluck at Ashford Manor will become the Summer Lawn Party there in 2008. GLOBES is one of the sponsors of the annual Athens Pride Picnic, held usually in April.
STEERING COMMITTEE
The Steering Committee is composed of people who have expressed interest in helping to promote GLOBES and organize events and typically meets once a month. There are a number of action committees, the chairs of which may be Steering Committee members.
