1950-1954
Frank Craven (BSF '51) and Floyd Al Smith (BSF '51) were honored recently by the Society of American Foresters as 50-year members. Both men are retired from the Georgia Forestry Commission, where Craven was chief of forest education and Smith was chief of forest administration. Both live in the Macon area. Millard B. Grimes (ABJ '51), president of Grimes Publications of Georgia, purchased The Phenix Citizen, Phenix City, Ala., in May 2002. Grimes founded the paper in 1955. Grimes Publications publishes five weekly newspapers in Georgia. Millard also serves on the board of directors for the UGA Alumni Association.

Thornwell "Trigger" Lee (BSF '57) is retired from International Paper Co. and the Georgia Forestry Commission. Jim Fendig (BSF '58) has been elected a Fellow in the Society of American Foresters. Country music superstar Bill Anderson (ABJ '59), who entered UGA as a left-handed pitcher for the baseball team, was interviewed by Chicago Cubs announcer Chip Caray (ABJ '87) on WGN-TV.

Paul Nowlen (ABJ '62) of Jenkinsville, S.C., retired in Oct. 2001 from the claims department of Blue Cross of South Carolina. He and his wife Cathi have a prison ministry in the S.C. Department of Corrections.

John Futch (ABJ '68, MA '81), a former editor at the Boca Raton (Fla.) News is executive news editor of The Press-Telegram in Long Beach, Calif.
1970-1974
Linda Matheson Cartwright (ABJ '70) has moved back to Cumming, Ga., after living in the New Orleans area for 20 years and writing news for The Times-Picayune. She is married to Chad, has three children and is writing a book and a screenplay. Myra Blackmon (ABJ '72), founder and president of M. Blackmon Public Relations in Athens, Ga., was selected to present at the national conference of the Association of Small Business Development Centers. Bill Highlander (MA '72) of San Jose, Calif., received the 2002 Rex Harlow Award from the Bay Area chapters of the Public Relations Society of America. Highlander is director of corporate public relations at Calpine Corp. From 1984-99, he was head of communications for FMC Defense Systems and United Defense after serving 21 years as a regular Army officer. At the Pentagon, Highlander was a spokesman for the U.S. Army and led the Defense Department's Armed Forces Information Service. Brenda Hampton (ABJ '73) is creator/executive producer of the TV show "7th Heaven," which has won more than 18 awards since it debuted in the mid-90's. Brenda's television credits and award winning programs include "Mad About You," and "The John Laroquette Show." She has two children, Zoe and Vladik. David Stahl (ABJ '73) practiced public relations and advertising copywriting for several years before earning his juris doctorate. He has been a trial attorney in Marietta and Atlanta with a nationwide practice in criminal defense, corporate transactions, and domestic law. He has been married to Deborah Gail Kirk Stahl (BA '73) for 29 years.

Stephen Myers (ABJ '75) lives in Burbank, Calif., and is a motion picture film editor. He recently completed editing "Heartland Ghost" for producer Henry Winkler and Showtime. The cable movie began airing in late 2002. Myers was also recently invited to join A.C.E. (American Cinema Editors). Ken Joyner (ABJ '75) of Warner Robins received the professional achievement award for 2001-2002 presented by the Georgia Adult Education Association. Joyner is director of the C. W. Pettigrew Center at Fort Valley State University. John Seymour (BBA '75) of Mableton has decided to work in the non-profit world after more than 25 years in the oil business, and will be CFO of Cobb County Habitat for Humanity. His son attended UGA in fall 2002. Bill Edge (ABJ '76) of Snellville has returned from active military duty in the Middle East. He is a public information officer with the Georgia Public Service Commission. Reggie Thackston (BSFR '76, MFR '78) of Forsyth, a senior wildlife biologist with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources and coordinator of the Bobwhite Quail Initiative, was named Georgia DNR Wildlife Biologist of the Year in 2002. Frank Baker (ABJ '77) is a media educator with South Carolina Educational Television and lives in Columbia, S.C. He received a fellowship to attend Harvard University's 6th Annual Media & American Democracy Institute in 2002. He currently maintains the Media Literacy Clearinghouse Web site. He is also vice president of the National Telemedia Council, the nation's oldest media literacy organization. Randy Jones (ABJ '77) of Bronxville, N.Y., received the UGA Alumni Merit Award. Jones is founder and CEO of Worth Media, LLC, and editor-in-chief of Worth, a financial/lifestyle magazine he started in 1992 and built to 500,000 circulation in three years. A former publisher of Esquire and owner of Civilization, the magazine of the Library of Congress, Jones is the voice of the ABC Radio program "A Minute's Worth." Lee McMichael (ABJ '79) of Valdosta is director of conference center sales at the Valdosta-Lowndes County Conference Center & Tourism Authority. He and his wife, Mary, had their second child in Sept. 2002.

Kirby Scott Coe (ABJ '81) lives in Atlanta and is an R.N. at Northside Hospital and a freelance writer. John Kukla (ABJ '81) is vice president for Creative Services for KDFW/Fox 4 and Fox Sports Network Southwest in Dallas, Texas. Brian Steger (ABJ '81) completed 20 years of professional service with the Boy Scouts of America, spending six years with the local Scout Council in Athens before moving to Knoxville, Tenn., for nine years. He has been council scout executive in Tupelo, Miss., for the past five years. His wife, Sue Crain Steger (BSEd '81), is a property manager with COFER Realty, and they have two children, ages 17 and 13. William Thomsen (BSFR '81), a resource forester for the Virginia Dept. of Forestry, received a 2002 National Bronze Smokey Bear Award for outstanding wildfire prevention. The award recognizes "significant fire prevention programs across the country." Gwen Waldrop (ABJ '81) married Dr. Patrick Hogan in August 2002. The couple resides in Columbus, where Patrick is an associate professor at Columbus State University. Jan Egins (BSA '82, DVM '86), of Powder Springs was appointed by Gov. Roy Barnes to the State Board. She is a GVMA member actively involved in the Atlanta VMA and the Cobb County VMA. Randy Travis (ABJ '82) an investigative reporter with WAGA-TV in Atlanta, won the national Edward R. Murrow Award for series reporting. Travis obtained a collection of audio tapes made by Georgia prison officials as they witnessed each of the state's death row electrocutions. These tapes served as a vehicle to examine the constitutionality of Georgia's electric chair. Six months after Randy's series aired, the state supreme court ruled the electric chair unconstitutional. Angela Shurling Bushway (BSA '83, DVM '86) of Macon was appointed to the State Board. She is a member of the GVMA, has served two terms as district director, and is the GVMA Academy co-chair. Dixie Lee Cox (ABJ '83) of Savannah and Thomas David Lester of Atlanta were married in June 2002. They live in Atlanta. Christine Hurley Deriso (ABJ '83) has published a children's book, Dreams to Grow On. Christine, publications editor at the Medical College of Georgia, has written for Ladies Home Journal, Parents, Family Circle, and Child. Kim Underwood (ABJ '83) is weekend morning executive producer for CNN, overseeing six hours of live news programming each week. Previously, she was a supervising producer at CNN International, stationed in the London bureau. She spent 12 years in local Atlanta news with five years as a producer at WXIA-TV. Timothy Bryant (ABJ '84) is claim service manager with Hartford Insurance in San Antonio. He is working toward an MBA at the University of Texas. Phillip Cofer (BSA '84) of Bogart joined ComputerLand Advanced Technology Group as director of sales and marketing. He has earned his certification in Microsoft MCP and CompTIA A+. Carolyn Brault Seefer (BBA '84) of Walnut Creek, Calif., was appointed to a two-year term as department chair of the accounting and information management department at Diablo Valley College. She has been a business division faculty member at DVC since 1996. Dorothy Patrick Wilson (ABJ '84) participated in the Mississippi Economic Council's 2002-2003 Leadership Mississippi program. She is managing editor of The Sun Herald in Biloxi, co-founder and member of the board of directors of the American Copy Editors Society, member of the National Association of Black Journalists, Knight-Ridder Recruiters Network, Associated Press Managing Editors, and the Board of Visitors of Louisiana State University. Barbara Stinson (ABJ '85) was named editorial page editor of The Macon (Ga.) Telegraph. Previously an assistant managing editor there, Barbara is the current president of the Georgia Press Association. Condace Pressley (ABJ '86) of Marietta is assistant program director at WSB-AM in Atlanta after spending more than 10 years in the news department of WSB-AM. Condace also coordinates internships for the Cox Radio Atlanta Group and is in her final year of a two-year term as president of the National Association of Black Journalists. Spencer Sealy (AB '86) of Tallahassee, Fla., was promoted to assistant dean for development in the college of business at Florida State.

Ryan Bingham (ABJ '90) is a midday disc jockey and assistant program director at Magic 96.1 FM in Charlotte, N.C. He began his career at Magic 102 FM in Athens, and has worked on-air in Gainesville, Macon, Atlanta and Greenville, S.C. Jeanna Lipchinsky Childers (BSFR '90) is a forester in Santa Rosa County, Fla., and a grandmother of two. Robert Galloway (ABJ '90) of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., is producer/editor of Robert Galloway Media LLC and has produced television primarily for the ESPN networks. In 2001, he produced an independent documentary that aired on PBS stations nationwide about a World War II prisoner-of-war camp. Debra Bailey Helwig (ABJ '90, MA '97) of Marietta is a senior marketing associate at LOMA, an international trade association serving more than 1,250 insurance and financial services companies with education, training and research tools. Debra performs media relations and external communications, and is a contributing editor for LOMA's Resource, a trade magazine with a global circulation of 30,000 senior financial services executives. Traci Gentry Simmonds (ABJ '90) and her husband Brian of Marietta have a new daughter, Reilly Michelle, and a two year-old son, Connor. Craig Depken (AB '91, PhD '96) was promoted to associate professor with tenure in the department of economics at the University of Texas at Arlington. He is also the graduate coordinator for the department's master's program. KaRon Elizabeth Westmoreland (ABJ '91) is traffic manager with McRae Communications in Atlanta. Bonnie Gillespie (ABJ '92, MA '97) lives in Hollywood Hills, Calif., where she published Casting Q's: A Collection of Casting Director Interviews for Cricket Feet Publishing. Bonnie writes a weekly column for Back Stage West and is a Web site manager for Roxbury Publishing Company. She has been director of Archive Acquisition at the Sundance Institute and a voice-over artist for Hey Anita. Sonia Marie Heinze (ABJ '92) is public relations manager for Columbus (Ga.) Regional Healthcare. She spent the past 15 years in radio, television, and print journalism and is still a DJ in her spare time. Dori Taratoot Kleber (ABJ '92) has joined Point of Vision Design Group in Midtown Atlanta as senior communications specialist. She and her husband, David Kleber (BA '90, JD '93) live in Dunwoody. John McCarl (BBA '92) is living in Melbourne, Australia, and working as marketing strategy manager for Smorgon Steel, a publicly traded company that manufactures and distributes steel products. Jason Meucci (ABJ '92) is bureau supervisor in Chicago for CNN Newsource, where he is also a field producer. Teresa Hudson Doenges (BSFR '93) married Jim Doenges in May 2002. They live in Denver and work as environmental scientists at URS Corporation, an engineering and environmental consulting firm. Hadley Lars Lowy (ABJ '93) and his wife Lisa of Decatur had twin daughters in 2002. He is an analyst with Atlantic Trust Company. Prior to that, he was general manager of Litigation Technologies in Atlanta. Alicia Smith (ABJ '93) was hired as a general assignment reporter and afternoon anchor at the CBS-TV affiliate in Kalamazoo, Mich. Alicia had served as an anchor/reporter at WTVM-TV 9 in Columbus, Ga., for six years. Mark Spain (BBA '93) of Cumming has been honored for his team's 2002 real estate sales performance: 485 homes for a gross sales volume of $112 million. They placed second in the Team II category out of more than 4,700 Atlanta Board of Realtors sales associates. The team ranks in the top 100 RE/MAX agents worldwide. Brian Wright (ABJ '93) is a vice president with Bank of America in Charlotte, N.C., and leads all Internet initiatives including a recent release of BOA's mortgage Web site redesign. Brian Epps (AB '94, JD '98) of Augusta has joined the litigation practice group of Kilpatrick Stockton LLP, an international law firm. Brian previously practiced with a Savannah law firm and clerked for the Hon. Richard Story, U.S. District Court. Scott Grant (ABJ '94) married Lisa Ann Wilbanks on May 20, 2002. Lisa teaches special education at West Jackson Elementary School in Braselton, and Scott is an afternoon news anchor on WDUN/AM-550 and editor of AccessNorthGa.com for Jacobs Media Corporation. They just bought their first home, near Gainesville in Hall County, and are actively involved in ministry at Westside Baptist Church. Scott has missed only one Georgia football game in the past six seasons the Oahu Bowl in Hawaii in 2000. Greg Hitson (BSFR '94) is president of Hitson Land and Timber Management, Inc., a forestry consultant firm in Dublin. He recently moved to Florida to develop a Zaxby's in the Daytona Beach area. Kelly Meyler Holt (BA '94) and Russell Holt (ABJ '94) of Watkinsville celebrated the birth of their first child, Russell William Holt Jr., on Feb. 27, 2003. Scott Plunk (ABJ '94) formerly a senior director with Home Shopping Network broadcast facilities, is now a technical director for the ESPN News network. Lynn Lewis-Weis (BSFR '95, MS '99) of Hull is a research coordinator in the Southeastern Wildlife Disease Study Unit of UGA's College of Veterinary Medicine, where she develops and conducts field and lab research on wildlife diseases. She married Kevin Weis (BSA '01), a third-year vet med student, in May 2002. Steve Mount (AB '95) and his wife, Trese-Ann, relocated to Ithaca, N.Y., from Charlotte, N.C. Steve is now director of development and community relations at Ithacare, a not-for-profit senior housing community and service provider affiliated with Ithaca College. He is also a chapter president for the Association of Fundraising Professionals. Mark Young (BSFR '95) works for Environmental Consultants Inc. as a consultant to Florida Power and Light near Fort Myers. Virginia Hall Escalante (ABJ '96) lives in Clearwater, Fla., and is in her second year of teaching second grade at Trinity Christian School in Dunedin. She and husband Peter have three children: Alex, Tina and Joey. Jennifer Gantt Reasoner (ABJ '96) and her husband are owner/operators of a Chick-fil-A franchise in Wake Forest, N.C. Cory Allen Sekine-Pettite (ABJ '96) of Smyrna is news editor for Mercor Media, which publishes CE News and Structural Engineer, the leading national trade magazines for structural and civil engineers. Cory recently received a national award from the American Society of Business Press Editors for government coverage among magazines with 80,000 subscribers or less. Dagan Sharpe (ABJ '96) is vice president, relations manager for Wachovia Bank and lives in Cumming, Ga. Shelby Taylor (ABJ '96) has a tough job, but somebody's gotta do it. She is the director of public relations for The Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua in Maui, Hawaii. She has been employed by The Ritz Carlton Company since 1996, and she was most recently corporate manager of public relations. Owen Burney (BSFR '97) completed an M.S. at Oregon State and works as a regeneration forester out of Tillamook for the Oregon Department of Forestry. Rachel Harper Fox (ABJ '97) works at Paramount Studios as a senior publicist and recently had her second child, Kathleen "Cole" on July 29, 2002. Elaine Reyes (ABJ '97) married Troy Deus and now reports for WGCL-TV in Atlanta. Jennifer King Sumner (BSEd '97) and husband B.J. Sumner had a son, Tyler Bret, on Jan. 21, 2002. Morgan Johnson (BFA '99) is leaving her position at a contemporary art center in Naples, Fla., to attend graduate school in museum education at George Washington University in Washington, D.C. Eleana Goldberg Sachs (BSFR '99) is a wildlife technician with the University of Tennessee and the Great Smokey Mountains National Park. Seth Shanahan (BSFR '99) is working as an environmental biologist with the Las Vegas Wash Project Coordination Team in Las Vegas. Jason Ward (BSFR '99, MS '01) is a hydrologist with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, working on the Savannah River Dredging Project. Ransom Thomas (BSFR '99) of Luray, S.C., is working at Groton Plantation. He released a country music CD in November 2002 entitled "Dirt Rich."

Vivian Ball (ABJ '00, BA '01) married Michael Greentree in September 2002. Vivian is a supply officer aboard the U.S.S. Seattle and Mike is a naval aviator stationed aboard the U.S.S. Harry Truman. They live in Virginia Beach, Va., and often get together with other UGA fans in the Virginia area. Scott Berta (BSFR '00) of Atlanta married Tucker Marie Warnock (M '00) in May 2002. John Campbell (BSFR '00) of Dutch John, Utah, was promoted to supervisory forester, Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area in Jan. 2003. Jamie Chumbler (BSFR '00, MS '01), is a project manager for timberland investment management, F & W Forestry Services. Michael Clark (BSFR '00) married Andrea Marie Jensen (ABJ '00) of Lilburn in October 2002. He is working as a conservation ranger with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources. Chase Cook (BSFR '00) is a silviculture team leader with Temple Inland Forestry. Heath Hardison (BSFR '00) is an environmental safety specialist at UGA. Gorden Jackson (BSFR '00, MFR '02) married Rebecca Bryant. He works for Thompson Hardwoods, Inc., in Hazlehurst, Ga. Marc Rubenstein (BSFR '00) of Decatur works at the Georgia Soil and Water Conservation Commission. Courtenay Van Hooven Sealock (ABJ '00) is the new media assistant for Bossier Parish Community College in Bossier City, La. Kate Pankow Wicker (ABJ '00) married David Wicker. They live in Augusta, Ga. where Kate is a marketing specialist with the Medical College of Georgia Hospitals and Clinics. She manages consumer publications and maintains a health column for The Augusta Chronicle's Web site. Kevin Wuzzardo (ABJ '00) is a general assignment reporter for WCJB TV-20, the ABC affiliate in Gainesville, Fla. Henry Anderson Jr. (BSFR '01) is a timber buyer for Georgia Mountain Forestry Services Inc. Paul Fulton, (ABJ '01) formerly a marketing assistant with Community Newspapers Inc. in Athens, has joined Duffey Communications in Atlanta as an account associate. Craig Gannaway (BSFR '01) is a second-year law student at Georgia State University School of Law. Michael Huffman (BSFR '01) is city forester for the Macon-Bibb County Parks and Recreation Dept. in Macon. David Jones (ABJ '01) is a public relations coordinator at the Atlanta Union Mission. Sanchia Patrick (ABJ '01) was recently promoted to account manager for Atlanta-based Duffey Communications. She was responsible for shepherding the signing of a statewide Proclamation for Georgia Gov. Roy Barnes, declaring April through Sept. 2002 as WaterSmart months in Georgia. William Tribble Jr. (BSFR '01) is an inventory analysis forester with the Georgia Forestry Commission. Amanda Wooley (BBA '01) and Benjamin Edwards (AB '00, JD '03) were married in May 2002 outside Savannah. Benjamin has just accepted a position as an Assistant District Attorney with the Lowndes-Valdosta County District Attorney's Office. John Edalgo (BSFR '02) and Jennifer Fuzy Edalgo (BSFR '02) were married in Dec. 2002 at Mars Hill Baptist Church in Dooly County, Ga. Nicole Keiter (ABJ '02) is copy editor and coordinator for Game & Fish magazine, owned by the Game & Fish: PRIMEDIA Enthusiast Group, Atlanta. Sarah Latshaw (BSFR '02) is an extension 4-H program specialist in the Newton County Extension Service office. Amy Elizabeth Pittman (ABJ '02) of Augusta and Daniel Jay Lawson of Martinez, Ga., were married June 14, 2002. The couple resides in Augusta, Ga. Conner Poe (AB '01) of Little Rock, Ark., is the new political director of the Arkansas Republican Party, and also does marketing for a national political polling firm (Telopinion Research) in Washington, D.C. He was the campaign manager for Congressman Jay Dickey in the 2002 congressional campaign. Vaughn Spearman (BSFR '02) works in the Nevada Division of Wildlife Management. Carol Guy Stapleton (BSFR '02) is a wildlife research technician for Tall Timbers in Tallahassee, Fla. Brian Turnmire (BMus '02) of Alexandria, Va., just began working in Washington, D.C., as a trumpet player for the "President's Own" U.S. Marine Band.

John Kuzenski (PhD '93) launched an ad-free version of his popular radio stream PLANET ZEB!, which features rock and pop music from the '80s/'90s free of charge to anyone with a personal computer. John has 15 years in commercial broadcast radio, and is working on a JD degree at UNC-Chapel Hill. He can be reached at music@planetzeb.net. Kevin Williams (MA '02) is a doctoral student at Grady College and hopes to graduate in 2005.

Jose Antonio Aleixo da Silva (PhD '86) is dean of the Forestry Science Dept. at the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco-Brazil. He is also regional secretary of the Brazilian Society for Science Development and president of the University of Georgia Alumni Chapter Brazil. Glenn Tott (MFR '01) works for International Paper Co.

Martha Saunders (MA '79) was recently named vice president for academic affairs at Columbus State University in Columbus, Ga. Previously, she was Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of West Florida. Tom Hagley (MMC '92) is community and government relations manager for Vancouver, Wash., Public Schools. Over the past decade he has developed strategic communication and public engagement programs leading to voter approval of more than $500 million in local support for education. He has assisted the superintendent in raising $22 million in contributions to the school district. He also was instrumental in forming a national strategic partnership between Vancouver schools and Hewlett-Packard to co-develop, test and showcase new educational technology. Anthony (Tony) Sellers (MMC '92) is external affairs manager for the American Association of Occupational Health Nurses Inc. (AAOHN) in Atlanta.

David Sweat (JD '79) of Athens won the superior court election for Clarke County and was sworn into office in December 2002. Michael Bagley (JD '80), Donald Samuel (JD '80), Grant Stein (JD '81), Randolph Evans (JD '83), James Matthews III (JD '83), Cary Ichter (JD '84), Dean Russell (JD '87), and Susan Wilson (JD '89) were named to Atlanta Magazine's list of the best lawyers in the metro area. Bob Pope (JD '81) is managing attorney for the new Kennesaw office of the firm of Johnson and Hardwick. William Harvard (JD '82) joined the Athens office of Evert & Weathersby LLC. Horace Johnson Jr. (JD '82) of Covington was appointed Superior Court Judge in Walton County. David Hull (JD '83) recently joined the Brussels office of Covington & Burling as a partner, and he also heads up the European antitrust practice. Wade Buser (JD '84) is head of the real estate department at the firm of Thompson, O'Brien, Kemp & Nasuti in Norcross. Dr. L. Myer Jones of Hartford City, Ind., dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine from 1966 to 1968, died Dec. 9, 2002. The author of Veterinary Pharmacology and Therapeutics added almost two dozen faculty to the school and helped plan the construction of a new wing during his two-year tenure.

Dobbs served in the U.S. Navy in World War II and worked with Life Insurance Company of Georgia. Annie Frances Flanigan (SNS, ABED '36, MED '51, EDS '71) of Lawrenceville, elementary science teacher on station WETV for 16 years, died Jan. 16. Flanigan developed workshop programs to train teachers in teaching with media and was invided by NASA to Cape Kennedy for the launching of astronauts on the first flight to the moon. Jack Spalding III (AB '36) of Atlanta, former editor of the Atlanta Journal and World War II veteran, died Jan. 2. Jasper Yeomans (AB '36) of Bowman, who was a naval officer and was employed by Coca Cola for over 30 years, died Jan. 15. William Hawkins (AB '37, JD '39) of Sylvania, a World War II veteran and retired Superior Court Judege of the Ogeechee Judicial Circuit, died Feb. 8. Elizabeth Fowler Hagood (AB '38) of Marietta died Dec. 10, 2002. Daniel Spears (BSA '38, MED '53, EDS '71) of Milledgeville, an educator and administrator in the Baldwin County School system, died Dec. 13, 2002. Spears was a World War II Army veteran and spent 24 years in the U.S. Air Force Reserves. Herman Popkin (ABJ '39) of Hendersonville, N.C. died Nov. 26, 2002. Popkin was commited to enriching the lives of children and adults through summer camp experiences and founded Camp Blue Star. Ike Williams (BSA '39) of Duluth died Jan 28. Williams, founder of Souther Educators Life Insurance Co., was also an expert fisherman whose advice appeared in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Frederick Wickham Jr. (BSC '40) of Atlanta died Jan. 7, 2003. Wickham was a World War II veteran, worked with the American Red Cross, and was active in the real estate business in Atlanta for 40 years. Zachary Millsap Jr. (BSA '41, DVM '60) of Athens died Oct. 10, 2002. Retired with the Air Force Reserve, Millsap served during World War II and the Korean war, and worked for the USDA Meat and Poultry Inspection Service for 41 years. Thomas Rogers (BS '41) of Marietta, a decorated veteran with the U.S. Marines of World War II and the Korean War, died Dec. 28, 2002. Rogers returned from service to teach in high school and college, eventually becoming Kennesaw State University's registrar and director of admissions. Anne Stribling Wallace (BSC '41) of Smyrna, who for 40 years managed family dental offices, died Jan. 23. Annie Compton Ward (BSHE '41, MED '60) of Bainbridge, a retired schoolteacher, died Jan. 3. She served on the Widows Home board for over 50 years and had volunteered over the years with the Red Cross, the Girl Scouts, and veterans' hospitals. During his career, he was president of Bride and Groom Furniture in Savannah and worked with the UGA Cooperative Extension Service in Athens, where he received various honors for community service. Harvey Kennedy Jr. (JD '49) of Barnesville died Jan. 4. A decorated U.S. Army veteran, 32nd degree Shriner and an amateur radio operator, Kennedy was also a practicing attorney and member of the State Bar of Georgia. A World War II veteran, Herndon practiced law for many years in Cobb County and in 2002, was the first recipient of the William Barclay Herndon Award, named for him for his service to the courts and given by the Georgia Council of Court Administrators. Edward Lokey (BSA '52) of Harlem, retired U.S. Army Major and owner of Preferred Title Research of Georgia, died Dec. 26, 2002. Lanier Randall Jr. (JD '52) of Atlanta died May 24, 1997. Nancy Dorsey Stammetti (DVM '53) of Booneville, N.C., the first woman to graduate from UGA's College of Veterinary Medicine, died Feb. 10. Michael Whittle (BS '55) of Moultrie, died Dec. 14, 2002. A retired radiologist at Colquitt Regional Medical Center, he was a former member of the Board of Trustees at the Medical College of Georgia and a member of Trinity Baptist Church. Moultrie served as a physician in Vietnam and retired from the U.S. Army as a lieutenant colonel. Billy Shaw Abney (JD '58) of Chickamauga died Nov. 18, 2002. Guerry Youmans (BSED '58) of Jonesboro, a retired band director and member of Jonesboro First United Methodist Church, died Dec. 2, 2002. Charles Perry Sr. (BSA '59, MS '61) of Midville died Dec. 31. A retired agricultural economist with UGA, he was also president of Midville Industrial Development Authority and a board member of Burke County Board of Education.

Philip Shalloway (BBA '60, JD '63) of Fairfax, Va. died July 10, 2001. Bradford McFadden (BBA '64) of Roswell died Jan. 11 in a snow skiing accident. McFadden was the former owner of McFadden Business Publications, publisher of the American Bank Directory, and in 1998 he endowed the McFadden Chair for Entrepreneurial Studies at the University. He was an enthusiastic skiier and had been returning to ski in Aspen, Colo. since 1975. Charles Whitner III (AB '62) of Columbia, S.C., founder of Whitco Accounting & Tax Services, died Jan. 30.
