Nearly hidden amidst a sea of women in black shrouds, this little girl’s face caught the attention of photojournalist Mandi Wright (BFA ’97), who was on assignment in Baghdad for the Detroit Free Press. These women were reacting to a mass prayer delivered by rebel Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr, whose followers are currently engaged in heavy fighing against U.S. forces.
