Jane Bush Fagg. Special photo

I’m making this gift to the School of Environmental Design, because my mother valued her collegiate experience at UGA, her degree and her profession. She spoke often and quite fondly of Hubert Bond Owens, a visionary for the school and long time dean, and I know she respected him and the valuable teachings of landscape architecture. Honoring Mother with this gift is truly fitting in recognizing her achievements as an extraordinary and inspiring woman.
—Jane Bush Fagg, daughter of Leah Crist Bush (BSLA ’33)

Jane Bush Fagg’s gift to the School of Environmental Design’s Hubert Bond Owens Library is in honor of her mother, Leah Crist Bush, who was the first woman to earn a professional degree in landscape architecture from UGA. The $500,000 estate gift, in Crist’s name, will be used for library collections, exhibits, archives and maintenance of student resources for landscape architecture and historic preservation.
