The Archway to Excellence campaign hit the west coast earlier this year, hosting a reception at the swank Loew’s Santa Monica Beach Hotel near L.A.’s famed Santa Monica Pier. Supporters including the SoCal Dawgs—a regional alumni group—attended the Feb. 15 event, where they interacted one-on-one with President Michael F. Adams and key staff members. They also viewed the campaign video, which focuses on the UGA’s strategic themes: building the new learning environment, maximizing research opportunities and competing in a global economy.
The L.A. reception was one in a continuing series of events for loyal UGA supporters all over the country. Past events have been held in Chicago, New York, Washington, D.C., and a number of locations in Georgia. Upcoming receptions will be held in Sea Island/Brunswick and Birmingham in August, Boston in September, and Houston in November.
In March, the campaign passed the $400 million mark, putting Archway to Excellence at 80 percent of its $500 million goal. For more information on the campaign, please visit www.archwaytoexcellence.uga.edu.
