UGA is preparing to admit its first medical students by the fall of 2009 or no later than fall 2010, as part of the Medial College of Georgia/UGA Medical Partnership. The MCG/UGA Medical Partnership eventually will be housed on the UGA Health Sciences campus, the 58-acre site of the Navy Supply Corps School. In the meantime, classes will be held in the renovated Medical Partnership Building, also known as the O’Malley’s building, near North Campus. The university purchased the building in March. The General Assembly provided $10 million in its fiscal year 2009 budget to hire faculty and administrators necessary to start up the first class of medical students.
