Students from UGA’s College of Environment and Design took their expertise to Americus to help city officials re-green areas that were damaged during a March 2007 tornado. More than 300 trees were lost in the storm. Interim Dean Scott Weinberg and students met with members of a city re-greening committee last fall to draft plans for re-landscaping Rees Park, Joyce Myers Park and Oak Grove Cemetery. This spring students will complete plans for the cemetery and work with students from a local technical college to implement some of their recommendations on site.
