“BRATS: Our Journey Home,” a film written, directed and produced by Donna Musil (ABJ ’81, JD ’85), illustrates what life has been like for the more than four million children raised on military bases around the world. The idea for the film originated after Musil began to contact other military brats through the Internet and realized how similar they were. The documentary, narrated by singer/songwriter and Air Force brat Kris Kristofferson, features interviews with Amy brat Gen. Norman Schwarzkopf among others. “BRATS” is Musil’s first film and began screening in the summer of 2005. Since then, it has won the First Time Directors Award at the Roving Eye Documentary Film Festival and was a finalist in the Best Documentary Audience Award at the Omaha Film Festival.
