Child care on campus

A consultantís report shows that there is a need for on-campus child care for children of faculty, staff and students. Based on surveys and focus groups, WFD Consulting determined that there would be demand for about 200 slots for children of faculty and staff and another 40 for children of students at an on-campus facility with rates as high as $165 a week. The center would require 1.3 acres of land and a 12,000-square-foot building. Building costs were estimated at $3.6 million, with annual expenses of $1.4 million. The consultants provided several models for the center, including a university owned and operated center, a nonprofit agency model and an independently operated facility. Provost Arnett Mace and Senior Vice President for Finance Tim Burgess are studying the report to determine how to proceed.
