ugaMiracle

ugaMiracle is one of the largest student-run philanthropies in the Southeast, and this year marks its 15th anniversary at the University of Georgia.  The organization unites the University community in an effort to save children's lives through financial contributions to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta and gives students the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of Miracle kids through personal interactions and fundraising.  ugaMiracle is active year-round doing everything "For the Kids."

Throughout the year, ugaMiracle hosts several special events to raise money, including a 5K, Tour of Homes on Milledge Avenue, and MiracleFest, a weekend of awareness and celebration. Every team member strives to raise $200 or more through letter writing campaigns, canning together in downtown Athens, selling calendars and much more.  Members have several opportunities to interact with the Miracle Children, making an impact in more ways than one.

Dance Marathon is a 24-hour celebration of ugaMiracle's year-long efforts.  Students give up just one day as a symbolic gesture to the kids who spend days, weeks, or months in the hospital.  The Marathon is a chance for students to interact with the amazing children whom they have affected.

The 24-hours are filled with concerts, games, food, family and friends.  Miracle Children who have beaten the odds at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta visit the Marathon, interact with team members and tell their powerful stories, encouraging students to stay awake through the night.  At the conclusion of the 24 hours, the fundraising total is revealed and celebrated.  Dance Marathon is one of the largest events held on campus and one of UGA’s greatest traditions!  Dance Marathon 2010 will be held February 20-21.

Since the organization's start on campus 15 years ago, over $2 million has been raised for Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. In 2008-2009 alone, ugaMiracle raised over $300,000 for the kids.  Join and help make this year the best yet.  Vist www.ugaMiracle.org for more information and to register to become a team member.   Contact Fadi Rammo, executive director, at ugamiracle@gmail.com with any questions.
