The Graduate Student Association (GSA) is a
representative student government and advocacy group working for over
8,000 graduate and professional students at the University of Georgia.
We advance student rights and interests, hold exciting socials,
organize community service events, and keep students informed about
issues relevant to graduate student life at UGA. During the regular
school year, this home page is regularly updated with useful
information about issues, GSA activities, and campus events. The best
way to stay informed about GSA and campus events is to sign up for the
GSA listserv. If you do not begin receiving GSA announcements
within one week, please contact Hank Clay at gsa@uga.edu to be

Student Health Insurance Information Video
We are please to announce that the informational video is now complete. This video offers a brief background about the creation of the insurance plan at the State level. The video includes interviews with Dean Maureen Grasso and Mitch Keller a graduate student at Georgia Tech. Mitch was one of the only students on the original committee that founded the State-wide insurance plan within the Board of Regents . We hope that you find the video insightful.
The Childcare Assessment Survey is now available
A copy of the survey can be found here.
882 Graduate Students indicated that they had children less then five
years old. The Graduate Student Association is astounded that 79% of
882 respondents (or 700 grad students) indicated that they would be very likely
to use a University childcare center, yet only 40 potential seats are
being considered for graduate students. This is an initiative that GSA
will continue to push the administration to increase the number of
spaces available for the children of the graduate student body (and the
undergraduate student as well as we are the only student group fighting
on behalf of this initiative). The current offering only provides for
5% of the total need of the graduate student respondents--that is
ridiculous. This is not the last you will hear of this issue...
