The
Graduate Student Association hosts a number of services for the
graduate community at the University of Georgia. GSA offers
the
following services: a listserv, President's Blog, a Forum, Marketplace,
and the Resource Guide.
The listserv is an email service to keep students informed
about upcoming events, special offers, announcements, school
information, etc. To find out more about this service please
visit the Listserv page
of this site. If you are interested in having
an announcement sent through the listserv please send an email with
your request to gsa@uga.edu.
Spring 2008 Service Project
Once again GSA went to the Food Bank of Northeast Georiga for our
Spring 2008 service project. About fifteen people turned out for this
project. This project was a little shorter but we had just as much fun
as the one last September. Photos of the event are located here. Thank you everyone who volunteered on that day.
Please look for announcements for our Fall 2008 Service Project. If you
would like for GSA to volunteer for one of your projects please contact
the president at gsa@uga.edu and give us your idea.
Fall 2007 Service Project
GSA went to the
Food Bank of Northeast Georgia for our Fall 2007 Project. Just over 21
persons turned out for the project. In approximately one and a half
hours we packed and crated over 22,000 tons of food. The Foodbank
informed us that would supply 16,000 meals for needy people in
Northeast Georgia. Photos of the event can be found here. Thank you everyone who volunteered on that day.
For our Spring 2008 Service project we are planning on working with a
non-profit organization called the Triple Play Foundation. This is
still in the planning phase so we will let you know more as the
planning goes forward. Please keep on eye on the GSA listserv and the
UGA's calender of events for announcements about future service
projects.
President's Blog
The GSA president also offers a Blog page so that students can keep
informed about issues occuring within the university that may affect
the graduate student body. Both the president and vice
president
sit on numerous key committees within the university's administration.
The Blog is a resource to keep students informed about what
it
happening within these meetings. For more information about
the
blog visit http://www.gsainfo.blogspot.com/.
The Forum has been replaced by the blog. However, the blog still allows for an online forum for you to express and
discuss
issues that are of importance to you as a graduate or professional
student. Your posts and online comments with other UGA graduate and
professional students will help GSA better focus its efforts on issues
that are of greatest importance. For more information about
the blog please visit http://www.gsainfo.blogspot.com.
Marketplace
The Marketplace is published weekly (usually on Monday) and is
a
service for UGA graduate students to advertise goods and services or
for non-graduate students in the community who may have goods and
services of interest to graduate students. Any students that
subscribe to the listserv automatically get the Marketplace email
blasts each week. For more information about the Marketplace please visit
the webpage of this site.
The Resource Guide
The Resource Guide contains a list of books to read of various
subjects related to graduate student life. It also has links
to
several services on campus such as health, university housing, career,
etc. For more information on the Resource Guide please
visit that webpage on this site.

opinions expressed on this Web page do not necessarily reflect the
