For 2006 the map assistant is Christopher Lawton (crlawton@uga.edu.) Many digital map collections are also online at our webiste at www.uga.edu/history/maps.html.
Personal Web Pages
The University of Georgia offers free web page hosting for all faculty, staff and students. Web sites can be a valuable tool for graduate students, both to advertise their expertise and availability for employment, and to incorporate into the curriculum as a teaching aid. A typical web page may include a brief biographical paragraph, a file link for the curricula vitae, and links to specific courses currently being taught, either a WebCT link, or another course web site created by the instructor.
There are a multitude of free web page hosting services available online, you are not restricted to UGA resources. However, if you have little to no experience with HTML or other markup languages, it is recommended that you use UGA's hosting services, which is very user friendly. It is very important that web page authors adhere to legal compliances and university policies. Also, it is very important that any personal site linked to our directory contain a disclaimer as noted below.
Once created, you can email your URL (web page address) to history@uga.edu, in order for your page to be added to the departmental faculty/staff or graduate student directories.
Do you want a personal web page, but don't know where to start? Software is available on many of LeConte Hall's faculty/staff, graduate student, and computer lab computers. Common web authoring software may be found through About.com, Google.com, MSN.com, and Netscape.com. Dreamweaver, Flash, Fireworks, and other simpler software programs are available on many LeConte Hall computers. If you would like assistance setting up a simple web site or instruction and help on using the software, please see Laurie Kane, who will be happy to help you set up a site.

CITP
CITP (Campus IT Partnerships) provides our computer support. Emails to the CITP Help Desk go to CITP's Directory and Business Manager, the History Department Business Manager, and the History Department computer lab. CITP create their work schedules from help desk requests. Walk-ins and phones calls may actually delay a service response. If you are unable to email a service request from your computer, please stop by or call the department, or stop by the computer lab to send an email.
When you report your problem to CITP, please give them as much information as posible. Include, your name, computer location, any computer error messages, your internet service provider, and the model of your computer. This will help them resolve your issue as soon as possible.
Please be sure to add the email address https://www.citp.uga.edu/helpdesk/history/ to your address book, paste it on your monitor, your desk, or find some other way to keep it handy in time of need.
