She is the author of Getting Girls to School (Stree, 1996), A.Madhaviah: A Biography and a Novel translated by Vasantha Surya (Oxford University Press, 2004); book chapters (Ananya, 1997; Charisma and Commitment in South Asian History, 2004); and journal articles on women and society.
