HONS 1000H

Honors Teaching Assistants lead HON 1000H seminars in the fall semester for first-year students, introducing new Honors students to curricular, research, scholarship, travel-study, and internship opportunities within Honors and across campus.

HONS 4000H

The HONS 4000H course serves as the practicum seminar for Honors Teaching Assistants. The Director and Associate Director of the Honors Program lead the course, which is required for all HTAs. The course provides an introduction to the pedagogical strategies for HTAs and serves as a forum in which HTAs can ask questions, share experiences, and develop sound pedagogical practices.

Honors Teaching Fellows

Within the group of HTAs chosen each year, six students will be selected as Honors Teaching Fellows (HTFs). In addition to serving as HTAs for HONS 1000H, Honors Teaching Fellows will meet regularly with the Associate Director and work closely with Honors staff to shape the Honors First-Year Experience through activities including but not limited to:

  • Development of a course packet
  • Planning and implementation of Convocation
  • Contributing to the development of syllabi for HONS 1000H and HONS 4000H
  • Implementing orientation events for Collegiate Entry students
  • Facilitating the Honors Faculty Mentor Network events
  • Planning and implementing training events for the HTAs

The six Honors Teaching Fellows will be selected from those who express interest on the application. Each HTF will receive a $500 stipend at the end of fall semester.

Apply to become an Honors Teaching Assistant/Honors Teaching Fellow.
