internal scholarships and stipends in the honors program
Ash Service Award | Crane Leadership Scholars Katherine and Darren Ash established the Ash Service Award to help cultivate and support a culture of community service within the UGA Honors Program. Awards go to students who have demonstrated a serious and sustained commitment to service, whether it be service to the campus community, the Athens community, or the national/international community. The application deadline for third-year Honors students is May 1. Award recipients will be recognized and asked to serve as community service leaders throughout their senior year, beginning with the Honors Program Convocation in August and culminating with the Honors Program Banquet in April, when the awardees will be given a $1,000 stipend. This program is jointly administered by the Honors Program and the Center for Leadership and Service and awards up to ten $1,000 scholarships to third-year Honors students with exemplary leadership records on campus and/or in the local community. The scholarship is renewable in a recipient's fourth year, subject to a 3.7 minimum cumulative GPA. Application forms will be available from the Honors Program at the beginning of the fall term. If you have any questions regarding the Crane Leadership Scholarship, please contact the Scholarships Coordinator (jhunt@uga.edu). Download the current Crane Leadership Scholarship Application. Honors International Scholars Program The Honors International Scholars Program provides opportunities for second- and third-year honors students to engage in international study or internships by offering 25-30 scholarships per year, ranging from $2500 to $5000. Awards are merit-based, and the amount of each award will depend upon program costs, individual financial needs, and overall resources available. Some awards are earmarked for travel to Asia, Latin America, and Africa. However, a limited number of awards may be given to students representing a diverse range of locations and interests, including service, research, and first-time travel abroad. Applications are available to interested students in late August. The application deadline is in November, and award winners are announced in early December. For further information, contact Maria de Rocher in the Honors Program. Download the current Honors International Scholars Application. The Foundation Fellowship is UGA's most prestigious undergraduate scholarship program. It provides a stipend that helps cover the full estimated annual cost of attendance, plus special grants for travel-study and research. Foundation Fellows also have the opportunity to participate in a variety of additional enrichment activities, such as seminars with UGA and visiting faculty. Every year, two to four Mid-Term Fellowships are awarded to UGA Honors students who have a minimum 3.7 cumulative GPA and two years of study remaining at UGA. Mid-Term Fellowship applications are available in mid-November and are due in January for the upcoming academic year. Download the Mid-Term Foundation Fellowship Application
