Annual Reception & Orientation

Each year, at the outset of the fall semester, CURO hosts the Honors Faculty Mentor Network Reception and Orientation. Reserved for mentors only, this event is a chance to bring together new and experienced mentors, offering them an opportunity to network and learn more about mentoring. Meet & Greets

The Meet & Greets allow first-year Honors students to explore the people and places on the University of Georgia campus within their first few weeks at UGA. They also provide faculty with an opportunity to meet some of the best and brightest undergraduates and to inform them of the vast array of academic opportunities available. During the first half of each Meet & Greet, faculty introduce themselves to the students, sharing information about their courses, majors, academic organizations, research, and departmental study abroad opportunities. As an ice breaker, faculty share one personal tidbit about their lives off campus.

During the second half of the Meet & Greet, faculty and students mingle while sharing pizza and sodas provided by the Honors Program. The Meet & Greets are an ideal way to facilitate relationships between students and faculty and to promote student interest in the academic opportunities available in the participating departments, schools, and colleges.

January Gala

Each January CURO sponsors a special HFMN Gala event. Only currently registered mentees and mentors are invited. Past events have included dinner and a film screening and discussion hosted by Athens own Cine.

Dinner @ the Prof's

As part of the opportunities available to those students who sign up for an Honors Faculty Mentor, CURO offers the Dinner at the Prof's. Dinner at the Prof's is a chance to dine and discuss important topics of the day with first-year mentees.
