Visiting Artists & Scholars One of the most simple and profound ways to expand your horizons is to do so literally by traveling to and studying in either another part of the United States or abroad. Residents are regularly released from Housing contracts to facilitate participation in approved national and international student exchange programs sponsored by a variety of groups associated with the University of Georgia, including the Department of Student Activities' International Student Life Office and National Student Exchange, the Center for Humanities and Arts, and the Office of International Education, as well as civic organizations like the Georgia Rotary Student Program. The Department of University Housing is also proud to host many of the student and faculty artists and scholars who visit the University of Georgia for the advancement of creative expression, scientific research and education. Every summer, UGA visitors from all disciplines enjoy the benefits associated with on-campus lodging. A very limited number of vacant residence hall staff apartments are also made available to visiting professors and other scholars during the academic year. In exchange for access to this unique housing opportunity, visitors agree to lead a cultural/academic exchange activity or event that will be of interest to the student residents in the hall. For more information about housing visiting scholars please contact Tracy Giese or visit our Visiting Scholars web page. |
