2009-2010 Break and Semester Closing Dates

Check-In: All Communities
The Hunker Down with Housing move-in celebration begins at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 11, 2009. Residents may move into their fall spaces on Tuesday for an additional fee of $20.00. Additional fees are billed directly to each resident's Student Account.

Hunker Down with Housing continues at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 12, 2009 - the first date of General Check-In. Residents may move into their fall spaces on Wednesday with no additional fees.

 


Brumby, Creswell, Hill, Myers and Russell Communities
Student residing in these communities should plan accordingly as stated in the below chart. An e-mail will be sent to each student through his/her UGA e-mail account prior to each closing with more detailed information.

Fall Break

  • The residence halls will not close for Fall Break, 2009.

Thanksgiving Break
  • Halls close at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, November 22, 2009.
  • Halls reopen at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, November 29, 2009.

Winter Break
  • Halls close at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 17, 2009.
  • Halls reopen at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 5, 2010.

Spring Break
  • Halls close at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 6, 2010.
  • Halls reopen at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, March 14, 2010.

Year End
  • Traditional Halls & ECV's Rooker Hall close at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 8, 2010.

Reed Community
Reed and Payne Halls in the Reed Community offer continuous housing to students and are open during all academic break periods. Each student will receive an e-mail with more detailed information at his/her UGA e-mail account prior to each break period. Note: Morris Hall does NOT offer continuous housing. Morris Hall is closed during Thanksgiving, winter, spring and summer breaks.

Year End
  • Halls close at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 8, 2010.

East Campus Village
East Campus Village offers continuous housing to students and is open during all academic break periods. Each student will receive an e-mail at his/her UGA e-mail account prior to each break period with more detailed information.

Year End
  • Halls close for residents of Rooker Hall at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 8, 2010.
  • Graduating residents of Rooker Hall must depart by 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 8, 2010.
  • Building 1512, McWhorter Hall and Vandiver Hall remain open through the summer for all non-graduating residents. These halls will close at 10:00 a.m. on July 31, 2010 - the last day of the ECV 11.5 month contract.
