Communications

The University of Georgia and the Department of University Housing may contact resident students with official communications via email or United State Postal Service mail. Check your electronic and postal mailboxes regularly to be certain you do not miss any important and/or time sensitive information!

Where can I find out more about UGAMail and my email account?
If you have a MyID, then you have probably have access to UGAMail. Certain types of exception accounts and WebCT test accounts are not eligible for an UGAMail account.
  • All faculty, staff, and students at UGA are eligible for an UGAMail account free of charge
  • Your UGAMail account will be valid as long as you are affiliated with UGA
  • Your UGAMail account gives you access to:
    • Webmail
    • Point-and-click IMAP e-mail access
Those using UGAMail accounts must comply with the University of Georgia Policies on Use of Computers as well as the policies specific to the use of UGAMail. These policies are binding on you as a UGA faculty, staff or student even if you haven't read them.

Is Internet service provided for residents?
Yes, each resident room at UGA is equipped with two dedicated high-speed Internet access points for residents with computers. Visit ResNet for more information about residential computing at UGA.

How will I receive mail while I am living on campus?
Resident mailboxes are provided in each Community. Correspondence should be addressed as follows:

Is a long distance service provided or is it recommended?
You are free to use any long distance service you wish. The University of Georgia does not provide long distance or endorse any particular long distance company. Local telephone service is provided to each room at no additional cost. Each room has one telephone jack and line.
