Vehicles and Parking Can first-year students have a car on campus? How can I get information about parking? Yes. Please visit the UGA Parking Services website or call 706-542-PARK to learn more about the parking rules and regulations. Where can I park my motorcycle? A limited number of parking spaces are available around the residence halls for motorcycles. For more information about motorcycle parking at UGA, contact Parking Services at 706-542-7275. Is bicycle parking and storage available? Bicycles cannot be operated or stored in hallways, stairwells, or any other areas inside the hall; bicycle/motorcycle racks are available adjacent to each hall. Bicycles should not be attached to railings or other exterior locations that obstruct access to stairways, sidewalks, or entrances. Bicycles left unattended anywhere in the halls, other than inside student rooms, shall be turned over to UGA's Public Safety Division. How can I get around campus if I don't have a car? UGA has an extensive transit system. In fact, it carries the highest volume of any University operated transit system in the United States. Access to the UGA bus system is provided through the student transportation fee. For more information, visit the Campus Transit website. Is public transportation available near residence halls? The Athens Transit Authority has bus routes connecting University of Georgia students, staff and faculty to nearly every part of Athens Clarke County, all at no charge with display of a valid University of Georgia identification. Over 760,000 free rides were taken by UGA students and personnel in fiscal year 2003 alone! Check out the Athens Transit Authority website to learn all about the Athens bus system. |
