Get involved in activities
Whether it's a game of soccer on the Myers quad or a spontaneous music fest
in the Reed lounge, there are always "unorganized activities" taking place in the residence
halls. But the Residence Hall Association and the community councils are also doing their
best to show you a good time (and improve your quality of life, of course). Here's just a
sampling of what you can get involved in on campus:
Intramurals
Some residence halls have their own intramural programs that compete with other student
groups on campus. Most communities offer softball, flag football, basketball, and ultimate
Frisbee for men and women.
Community service projects
Create and host a haunted house for children of the Boys & Girls Club or Big Brothers/Big
Sisters, work with Project SAFE, volunteer at the local domestic violence shelter,
build a house with Habitat for Humanity, or lend
a hand at food and clothing donation drives.
Just for fun
Take your pick: Paintballing, skydiving, movies on the lawn, "sumo" wrestling, jousting,
moonwalks, dance parties, trips to ESPN zone, pizza parties.
More or less educational
RHA sponsors debates on topics such as the new Georgia state flag and controversial
admissions policies; safety programs and self-defense classes; sexual health responsibility
programs; time management seminars and stress management seminars; and relaxation programs
like massage therapy.
Special events
A variety of other special events take place throughout the year, including the Relay for
Life, Dance Marathon, Patchwork of Cultures, Midnight Madness, and
Dawgs After Dark.
Community Council programs
Still need more to do? Then consider the Community Council programs , inluding Welcome Week,
the Russell/Creswell Annual Volleyball tournament, Russell Daze, ResFest, and Hill Stock.
