Feel secure We're not going to tell you that crime doesn't take place in Athens. If you watch the news or read the newspaper, you know that's not true. What we can tell you is that if you live on campus, you'll see that we take security seriously. We'll make sure of it. You'll see we take your security seriously just by walking into your residence hall. That's why every hall on campus is equipped with biometric hand readers and every student who enters the building must have a UGA card. Lose your UGACard? You'll have to get another one, but no one who finds your card will be able to use it to enter the residence halls because each card is programmed with a specific hand scan. All residential communities house a 24-hour community desk that is always monitored by a Housing staff member. To make you feel even safer, Housing Security monitors each community from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. every night. The campus police also patrol campus on a regular basis and are at your service in the event of an emergency. If you do have an emergency, the RAs and CAs on each floor are there to help you. Learn more about our efforts to ensure your safety on campus, read the latest crime statistics, or look up emergency phone numbers at the Public Safety Division web site, which contains up-to-the-minute information about campus safety and security. |
