Parents Welcome to the website of the Department of University Housing at the University of Georgia! It is the mission of the Department of University Housing to provide comfortable, affordable and secure on-campus housing options in residential communities where the academic success and personal growth of resident students is encouraged and supported. We take this mission seriously, and this web site is designed to help showcase the programs and services we offer that can help enrich your student's collegiate experience. Nearly all phases of the assignments process can be completed electronically on this site, including registering for housing, indicating your preferred residence hall(s), and designating your roommate(s). We recommend you take some time to navigate through all areas of the website to get a feel for what we have to offer, why living in the residence halls enhances students' overall educational experience. Living on campus is the way to live Georgia. Don't just attend Georgia, live it! Bulldog Families This publication is developed just for parents of residence hall students and will be distributed to all parents several times a year to update you on Department of University Housing news and upcoming events. You may read back issues of Bulldog Families online in the Adobe Portable Document (pdf) format by clicking here. First Year Live-On Requirement There is an abundance of national and regional evidence demonstrating that undergraduate students who live on campus exhibit stronger academic performance, forge deeper bonds with their communities and report a higher level of satisfaction with their overall collegiate experience. As a result, in 2003 the Cabinet initiated a policy requiring all first-year students to live on campus through their first year of enrollment beginning with the Fall 2004 entering class. For complete details on this policy click here. Registration The entire process of registering for Housing can be completed online once the student has been accepted to the University of Georgia. Because all hall and roommate preferences are prioritized in order of registration date we strongly recommend the student complete our easy-to-use online registration process as soon as possible after being accepted for enrollment. The University of Georgia and the Department of University Housing will regularly transmit essential, time sensitive information to your student through his or her official UGA email account. It's also where students will be told about cool campus news and opportunities. Students should check this account regularly! Living on Campus Are you concerned about what it will be like for your student to live on campus? This area of our site will answer many of your questions about the process of moving in, the policies that will affect you, and how to live with your new roommate(s). If all else fails you can consult the FAQ. Meningococcal Disease Georgia law requires all students be informed about the potential risks associated with this very serious disease.
