Dates and Deadlines

Fall Registration and Assignments Process

The following information outlines the general timeline for registration and assignment of housing spaces for new, first-year students. For specific dates and deadlines please visit the registration page located here.

December: Online registration begins when the Office of Admissions releases Early Action decisions in December of the year preceding fall move-in.

January to August: Online registration continues for the upcoming fall term. Register here.

Mid-May*: A date in mid-May will be designated as the last day to register for housing and/or modify registration online before the initial round of first year assignments are made.

Late May: Immediately following the last day to register for a space with UGA Housing there will be a period of approximately one week in which no registrations and/or modifications will be accepted.

End of May : Hall assignments and contracts will be issued to all first year students registered for housing as of the mid-May priority date.

May-June: First year students who registered for housing prior to the mid-May priority date will be able to submit reassignment requests online.

June: First Year students - who are required to live on campus - must activate a contract by the due date provided, however no Housing prepayments are required.

New transfer, graduate, professional and law students must submit a $275 prepayment on a date to be set by the UGA Bursar's Office, as well as execute a contract.

In May the specific payment deadline date will be communicated via email to all students registered for housing.

Mid-July: Specific room and roommate information will be released to students who have signed and returned a residence hall contract.

August: The residence halls will officially open for fall semester on a date in mid-August. Students participating in Fraternity and Sorority Membership Recruitment or members of the Redcoat Marching Band may be eligible to move in before the official opening date. All students checking in before the official opening date must pay an early check-in fee of $20 per day.

*All first year students registering for on-campus housing after this date will be assigned to a specific residence hall via an ongoing process throughout the summer.

All other new students (transfer, graduate, etc.) will be assigned in registration date order at a time to be determined by the Housing Assignments Office. All non-first year students who have registered for on campus housing will be contacted mid-May with the most up to date information.
