Introduction to UGA Housing
These
pages are your online introduction to the Department of University Housing's twenty residence halls and the communities you'll find there, as well as the steps you'll need to take to claim your space in your University of Georgia home away from home. Specific pages include:
Welcome to UGA Housing
This page contains a welcome letter from UGA Housing's Executive Director, Dr. Gerard J. Kowalski.
UGA Housing Viewbook
Because it is distributed in more than 14,000 packages each year by UGA's Office of Undergraduate Admissions, for many students the Viewbook is their first introduction to the communities, programs and residents of UGA Housing. Click here to read this publication in the Adobe Portable Document Format (pdf).
First Year Live-On Requirement
There is an abundance of national and regional
evidence demonstrating that undergraduate students who live on campus exhibit
stronger academic performance, forge deeper bonds with their communities and report
a higher level of satisfaction with their overall collegiate experience. As a result, in 2003
the Cabinet initiated a policy requiring all first-year students to live on campus through
their first year of enrollment beginning with the Fall 2004 entering class. For complete
details on this policy click here.
Dates and Breaks This page features detailed
information about the holidays and break periods for the current academic year.
Registration
The entire process of registering for Housing can be completed
online once you have been accepted to the University of Georgia. Because all hall and
roommate preferences are prioritized in order of registration date we strongly
recommend you complete our easy-to-use electronic registration process as soon as
possible after being accepted for enrollment.
Email
The University of Georgia and the Department of University Housing will
regularly transmit essential, time sensitive information to you through your official UGA email account.
It's also where you'll be told about cool campus news and opportunities.
Check this account regularly!
Moving In: So you've registered for housing, signed a contract and received your
room and roommate assignments. What's next? This page will summarize what
you can expect on the day you move into your new residence hall, as well as
some suggestions as to what and what not to bring.
Meningococcal Disease
Georgia law requires all students be informed about the
potential risks associated with this very serious disease. Click here to learn more.
