Meningococcal disease info

House Bill 521, of the Georgia General Assembly, added Code Section 31-12-3.2 and requires that all students living in campus housing to be informed of the risks and issues regarding Meningococcal disease. This law went into effect on January 1, 2004.

When a UGA Residence Hall Contract is issued, each student will be asked to verify a statement indicating the student has received the information about Meningococcal disease and is aware of the issues and concerns about this illness. Students may choose to either (a) receive a Meningococcal disease vaccination or (b) review the information provided regarding Meningococcal disease. For more information on this topic go to the University Health Center's Meningitis web page.
