Creswell Community
Named after Mary Ethel Creswell, the first woman to receive a degree from the
University of Georgia, Creswell Community is home to 965 male and female first-year students
whose academic pursuits are balanced with the recreational opportunities found on the
large patio and in the sand volleyball pit. Creswell residents are involved, with high
levels of resident participation in community service projects and resident leadership
opportunities. Creswell residents also enjoy living near the award-winning Bolton Dining
Hall -- they're never more than a few steps away from a great meal.
Each of Creswell's four colonies -- Frederica, Gordon, Goshen, and Ogeechee
-- is made up of double-occupancy rooms with individually controlled air
conditioning units, high-speed Internet access, cable TV and 17-position loftable beds. Residents share common bath facilities, kitchens, vending areas, and laundry
facilities, and they have access to Franklin College of Arts and Sciences Academic Advising. Some Creswell residents also take part in the Creswell
Learning Communities, where in-depth faculty involvement nurtures exceptional
academic growth.
New in 2006, Creswell Hall features a very limited number of suites (rooms 211, 411, 611 and 811) equipped for complete access by disabled student residents, including wider access doors, improved door hardware, low-height fixtures, and private bathrooms with roll-in showers. These suites are also outfitted with movable furniture, including two wardrobes, two desks, two chairs, and two 17 position loftable beds.
Creswell is a coeducational residence hall for first-year students, and observes visitation
option B -- visitation is permitted Monday - Thursday from 10 a.m. to 2 a.m., and 24
hours a day beginning 10 a.m. Friday and ending at 2 a.m. Monday (Sunday night).
