The Department of University Housing will be accepting applications for the C.L.A.S.S. Advocate, Resident Assistant and Village Community Assistant positions for the 2010 - 2011 academic year beginning at 8:00am (EST) on Monday, November 16, 2009. Applicants will need to submit their application and two (2) completed references by 5:00pm (EST) on Friday, December 18, 2009.

All perspective applicants must view a PowerPoint presentation in order to gain access to the online application system. C.L.A.S.S. Advocate
C.L.A.S.S. (Continuing the Legacy of African American Student Success) Advocates live and work in the residence hall community and are members of the residence hall staff. CAs address the needs and concerns of African American students living in the residence halls and help African American students adjust to life on campus. Applicants must be mature and flexible, be able to communicate effectively, and understand African American student issues. Additional criteria include a minimum University of Georgia cumulative and semester GPA of 2.75 and have at least four full semesters of campus experience at UGA as a full time student. Resident Assistant
The Resident Assistant (RA) lives and works with a group of 30 to 60 students in a residence hall community. Duties include personal advising, management of a floor of undergraduate students, and administrative tasks such as community desk duty and room inventory. Applicants must be mature, flexible, and effective communicators. Additional criteria include a minimum University of Georgia cumulative and semester GPA of 2.5 and have at least two full semesters of campus experience at UGA as a full time student. Village Community Assistant
A Village Community Assistant lives in East Campus Village and acts as a resource for all 1,200 community residents. Village Community Assistants support students in their development and adjustment to the University and the Community. These student staff members are responsible for assisting in crises management, maintaining safety and security of the community, responding to facility concerns, conducting courtesy checks of apartments for health and safety concerns, checking residents in and out of apartments, and staffing the 24-hour ECV Community Desk. Applicants must be mature, flexible, and effective communicators. Additional criteria include a minimum University of Georgia cumulative and semester GPA of 2.5 and have at least two full semesters of campus experience at UGA as a full time student.
