Professional Staff

The Department of University Housing employs nearly 200 full time professional personnel with a wide variety of skills, experiences and degrees of professional/educational development. Unifying the daily activities of this large and diverse team is the departmental Mission:

The Department of University Housing provides comfortable, affordable and secure on-campus housing options in residential communities where the academic success and personal growth of residents are encouraged and supported.

Fullfillment of this mission is guided by the following Values and Principles:

  • Living in University housing has intrinsic worth realized through involvement in educational and social programs, self governance, resident-staff collaboration, student employment, and personal responsibility.

Available Positions

To follow are a list of professional positions currently available within the Department of University Housing. Following each description is a link to more information about the position, qualifications and the procedures for application.

Area Coordinator (Anticipated)
The Area Coordinator is a mid-manager level Student Affairs professional with primary responsibility for the direction, oversight and comprehensive operation of a community of one or more residence halls with a total combined occupancy of approximately 1,000-1,300 students. Area Coordinators supervise a team of personnel at various levels while also guiding the community's programmatic efforts. This is a managerial live-on position with the option to petition to move off campus at a later date.

Assistant Area Coordinator (Anticipated)
The primary function of this position is to assist an Area Coordinator in the management of an 1,000 bed residential community. Special emphases include coordination of programmatic and academic initiatives, advising of student groups, and supervision of student hourly staff and C.L.A.S.S. Advocates in first year communities or supervision of Village Community Assistants in East Campus Village.

Residence Hall Director (Anticipated)
This is an entry-level, live-in position, the primary function of which is to assist in the management of one or more residence halls housing up to 500 residents. Special emphasis is given to coordinating programmatic and academic initiatives, advising student groups and supervising student staff members, including Resident Assistants, C.L.A.S.S. Advocates and/or Desk Assistants.
