Members Enjoy Spring Trip to Georgia Aquarium, CNN
IABC @ UGA had a fantastic Spring Trip to the Georgia Aquarium and CNN Headquarters on Friday, April 17. Eighteen students enjoyed an exciting, behind-the-scenes tour of the world's largest aquarium led by Aquarium public relations specialist Francesca Allegra.
During a lunch at the CNN Food Court, UGA students were joined by IABC/Atlanta members including president Stephen Boyd from Luckyfish, Southern Company's Tripp Cagle, Jamie Traynor, Jillian Boyd and Renitra Simon, and Jackson Communication's Audraine Jackson. After successfully passing through CNN security, the group was treated to a very interesting presentation and question/answer session with CNN's digital and off-channel marketing departments.
CNN digital marketing employees discussed CNN Shirt promotions, topical promotions, CNN mobile and iReport, CNN.com video and social media efforts. Additionally, off-channel marketing efforts such as the Democratic and Republican National Conventions' CNN Grill, Black in America, Planet in Peril, and Election Express Yourself were featured.

IABC@UGA is Student Chapter of the Year!
IABC/University of Georgia has been named the 2009 IABC Student Chapter of the Year!
The chapter and its members were honored on Friday, February 6 during the 2009 IABC Leadership Institute and Chapter Management Awards Reception in Orlando, Fla.
"The combination of strategy, innovation and succession planning shown by the chapter across their programs led the judges to unanimously name IABC at the University of Georgia the 2009 Student Chapter of the Year," said Janna White, chapter relations manager at the San Francisco-based IABC World Headquarters.
UGA made a clean sweep of the student chapter awards when Elizabeth Kirby, president of IABC at UGA, was also named 2009 Student Chapter Leader of the Year.
