IHE GRADUATE ASSISTANTSHIPS

Graduate assistantships can be nine- or twelve-month appointments based on one-third to one-half time assignments carrying a stipend plus waiver of tuition. To be considered for an assistantship, applicants must:

  • have a master's degree in a recognized academic discipline;
  • be fully admitted to the doctoral program in higher education at UGA;
  • demonstrate potential for academic leadership and scholarly research.

Assistantships are awarded on a one-year basis, renewable for two additional years pending satisfactory performance and the continued availability of funds. Assistantships may be granted beyond the third year, but these requests will receive lower priority.

The availability and fields of interest of internships vary from year to year. Recent internships have been sponsored by the College of Arts and Sciences, the Honors Program, the Provost's office at UGA, as well as by the National Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO) and the Advanced Learning Technologies unit of the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia.
