LIBBY V. MORRIS
Director, Institute of Higher Education Ph.D., University of North Carolina
Libby V. Morris is professor of higher education and director of the Institute of Higher Education at the University of Georgia. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. Her teaching and research interests include evaluation and assessment, faculty development, academic programs, and online education. In recognition of her work, she has received awards for excellence in teaching and in public service. In 2005, she was invited into membership in the UGA Teaching Academy. Professor Morris serves as program director for the newly established Georgia College Advising Corp, an affiliate of the National College Advising Corps, which places recent college graduates in high schools to assist underserved students with the college search, financial aid, and application process. She also collaborates with the Advanced Learning Technologies unit of the University System of Georgia Board of Regents in studies of online teaching and learning. She also coordinates the Institute's Faculty Development in Georgia program. Morris is the editor of Innovative Higher Education, a peer-reviewed, international journal focusing on innovations in post-secondary education. She has presented research and/or conducted workshops at meetings of the European Association for Institution Research, Association for the Study of Higher Education, Association for Institutional Research, Educause, WebCT, National Forum on First-Year Assessment, and Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. She is the author or co-author of several books, including Multiculturalism in Academe, The Reference Book on Regional Well-Being, Southern Black Belt — A National Perspective, and Achieving and Sustaining Institutional Excellence for the First Year of College.
