The Institute of Higher Education recently played host to over 60 college and university educators from around the state for the Governer’s Teaching Fellows Reunion and Teaching and Learning Conference. On January 25th, 2008, the Institute facilitated lectures, roundtable discussions and presentations on a variety of topics all related to the renewal of effective teaching and learning. Institute faculty members Libby V. Morris, Mel Hill and Christopher Morphew, as well as doctoral candidate Joy Blanchard, each shared their expertise at separate lunchtime lectures in which conference participants joined for inquiry and discussion.

The Governor's Teaching Fellows Program was established in 1994 by Gov. Zell Miller to provide Georgia's higher education faculty with expanded opportunities for developing important teaching skills. Since then, the program has welcomed more than 350 participants from 45 public and private institutions, all of whom are invited to participate in the reunion.
