This semester Sachin Varghese will graduate from UGA with his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the School of Public and International Affairs. Alone, that is amazing enough. Charles (Ty) Tuggle

Charles (Ty) Tuggle is a renaissance man. In his time at UGA, he has studied Gypsy culture in Hungary and Romania, language in Japan, and in Athens, Georgia, he works in the lab of professor Michael Pierce making advances in the fight against cancer. He enjoys reading science fiction and Southern gothic literature, and he likes drinking coffee at Jittery Joe’s in Five Points. Lindsey Giffin is putting her business talents to use helping others. She is an honors student and Leonard Leadership Scholar, and she is active in several projects throughout the Athens area to help underprivileged children. For the past four years, she has served as a mentor through a Clarke County mentoring program. Nina Wurzburger

It has been said that the pursuit of a Ph.D. is not a sprint, but an endurance race. If that is true, forest ecology Ph.D. candidate Nina Wurzburger should have no problem finishing. She is the world’s top female duathlon competitor in her age group. Wurzburger began competing on the swim and track teams in high school and college, and she started biking to cross-train.
