Caroline Salter doesn’t horse around. She is a UGA Charter Scholarship Award recipient, and member of Phi Sigma Pi National Honor Fraternity. Honors student Katie Griffith has a passion for helping others. She received a Courts Scholarship last summer and traveled to Nicaragua to work in a high school on behalf of the Foundation for Sustainable Development. She also collected qualitative research data while she was there to conduct a linguistical analysis of Nicaraguan Spanish for her CURO Summer Research Fellowship. Since her freshman year, Caelin Cubenas has been expanding her love and understanding of science. Her first two years were through the Center for Undergraduate Research Opportunities apprentice program and then as a senior peer advisor. Doug Jackson

It was enough that Doug Jackson was selected from all the students at UGA to compete for a $25,000 scholarship from the J. Edgar Hoover Foundation, but then he won the top prize, becoming UGA’s first Hoover Scholar. The scholarship is awarded to one individual every year nationwide who demonstrates ability and leadership in a scientific field that helps law enforcement officials in their criminal investigations. Camille Cole is no stranger to blood, sweat and tears. She is a senior with a major in exercise science, a concentration in athletic training and a minor in Spanish.
