In the summer, vet student John David Pritchett returned to the Pantanal Region of Brazil to complete a study of vampire bats that he started last year. He collected specimens from the vampire bats that will be tested to determine the prevalence of rabies within this region of Brazil. Torres-Vélez came to the College of Veterinary Medicine in the summer of 2002 as an anatomic pathology resident after completing a fellowship in Emerging Infectious Diseases at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta. Justin Brown’s contribution to veterinary medicine goes far beyond treating dogs and cats.
