Since her freshman year, Caelin Cubenas has been expanding her love and understanding of science. Honors student Katie Griffith has a passion for helping others. She received a Courts Scholarship last summer and traveled to Nicaragua to work in a high school on behalf of the Foundation for Sustainable Development. Graduate student Monica Arboleda does not quit. She only had a bachelor’s degree and was competing with applicants who had completed their Ph.D.s when she interviewed to be a Houle Scholar in Latin America. Her background included research with women who had risen to leadership positions in their communities in Colombia through education and other means. Caroline Salter doesn’t horse around. She is a UGA Charter Scholarship Award recipient, and member of Phi Sigma Pi National Honor Fraternity. Justin Brown’s contribution to veterinary medicine goes far beyond treating dogs and cats. Lisa Hoffman

Lisa Hoffman knows that she can make a difference in the world. She is a senior public relations major and Honors student from Mandeville, La. During a summer internship with the Louisiana Public Health Institute, Hoffman conceived and executed a plan to design and distribute 5-minute phone cards with hurricane preparedness and emergency information on them.
