Chowdhury, Uzma

Uzma Chowdhury

Uzma Chowdhury plans to earn two bachelor’s degrees, one master’s degree and three minors when she graduates from UGA in spring 2014. In the meantime, she’s making a difference working in the university’s Fanning Institute on migrant education youth programs, foster care youth education programs and youth leadership development.

“Most mathematicians never consider fieldwork, and most scientists in the field would rather be run over by a truck than use math as a conservation tool,” says Theresa Stratmann. She is proving that merging two fields is a winning concept as evident by her recent Goldwater and Udall scholarship awards.

Kamilah Gray has high hopes of being a chief marketing officer of a major film studio or television network one day.  In the meantime, this soon to be graduate, majoring in marketing and minoring in Chinese, is proud to be the founding member of the Professional Entertainment and Sports Association at the Terry College of Business.

Danielle Sobol will graduate with Highest Honors during UGA’s spring Commencement ceremony in May. The Ball Ground native attributes her scholastic success to the opportunities UGA has provided her, including a teaching assistantship in the chemistry department, international education and numerous volunteer experiences.

A passion for advocacy, travel and learning about other cultures has given Laurie McGowan a sense of purpose for her life following graduation from UGA in May.  And the Columbus native credits all the different experiences she had at UGA for giving her this direction.

Even though graduation isn’t until May, Robert Culp already has secured employment with Credit Suisse - Investment Banking Division in New York starting in July.  Until then, he plans to enhance the passion for travel he developed when he became involved in UGA’s international education program by traveling to China with friends.
