Leilah Zahedi
Senior Leilah Zahedi’s life work will span international horizons. She plans to become a physician and would like to travel to Iran, her ancestral home, to advocate for women’s rights. As a freshman, Zahedi was invited to come to UGA as a CURO Promising Scholar. Kate McGlamry
Senior Honors student Kate McGlamry cares about the world and the people in it. She has done environmental conservation work in Costa Rica, she has done research to help people with pancreatic cancer, and she has worked to help victims of sexual assault. The recipient of numerous scholarships, she loves to cheer for the UGA football and gymnastics teams. William Rooks
The experiences graduate student William Rooks has had on campus, in the nation’s capital and in China are preparing him for tomorrow’s increasingly connected and globalized world. His goal is to attend law school so that he can serve as an attorney advocating for human and civil rights.

Alyssa Larsen
When Alyssa Larsen received her bachelor’s degree, she realized the quality of a University of Georgia education was top-rate. Like many students, she graduated and got a job. She got married and moved to suburban Atlanta. When it was time for graduate school, she wanted to go to UGA, and the part-time master of social work degree program at UGA’s Gwinnett campus fit her needs perfectly. Yasmin Yonis
When she was three years old, Yasmin Yonis and her family came to Atlanta as refugees from the civil war in Somalia. Faraz Ahmed
Senior Faraz Ahmed has many interests, but he is most passionate about broadcast news. He currently works as a broadcasting manager for UGA NewSource, a daily news show produced by students on UGA’s campus. He has also worked with an organization to set up the first private news channel in Pakistan and subsequently traveled to Dubai and Serbia as a broadcast consultant.
