IPSO India Initiative: The IPSO India Initiative is a structured approach to engage the university community with a population of new Georgians who have an economic, social, and cultural impact on our state. The Initiative consists of a series of components that range from in-country cultural immersion to applied research and community outreach. In April 2009, IPSO hosted the India Conference "Interconnected Future: India and Georgia" as the inaugural event for the India Initiative. Read more about the IPSO India Initiative > TIES II Students and International Science Education: TIES students visited Atlanta-area farmers' markets for a class project in International Science Education taught by Dr. Deborah Tippins and Dr. Norman Thomson. The pedagogical activity, "Grocery Store Ethnography," focused on observing practices from other ethnic groups with regards to the variety of foods consumers purchase and purchasing locations. Community Engagement Fellowships: Encouraging UGA students to reach beyond classrooms and share international experiences with Georgia communities through projects with a community partner, the awards help pay study abroad expenses in developing countries, enabling students to experience those countries and connect classroom experience to development challenges. |
