GIACC Reception and Dinner for BIO India Delegation to Atlanta BioCon2009
On Monday, May 18, 2009 UGAÕs Office of international Public Service and Outreach (IPSO) co-hosted a reception given by Georgia Indo-American Chamber of Commerce (GIACC) to honor a distinguished group of delegates from India to the 2009 Bio International Convention. The event was held at the Goizueta Business School at Emory University. Delegates included representatives from the:

The purpose of the delegate visit was to participate in the 2009 Bio International Convention where they would be hosting an India Pavilion in order to provide opportunities for information sharing and networking for future collaborative partnerships in biotechnology. The Welcoming Committee for the reception included:

The evening began with a cocktail reception followed by remarks by Rick Desai and Dr. Jagdish Sheth, Charles H. Kellstadt Professor of Marketing, Goizueta Business School, Emory University, who gave a few eye-opening remarks about GeorgiaÕs lack of standing in the bio field in contrast to North Carolina. Dr. Anupam Srivastava gave a brief summary of the advantages of businesses aligning with universities for commercialization of technology opportunities that can be mutually beneficial as part of a panel moderated by GIACC.
