Cross-Cultural Studies: Honduras 2007 UGA Cooperative Extension
The purpose of Cross-Cultural Studies: Honduras 2007 is to help extension agents and specialists better understand the cultural basis for interacting with Georgia's Latino immigrants and to learn ways to work more effectively with the Latino community. While there will be a special emphasis on the environment in Honduras, the intention is to give participants a broad set of cultural experiences so that they can better understand, communicate with, and ultimately work more effectively with Latinos in Georgia.
Funding for cross-cultural seminar participant travel is provided in part by the USDA-CSREES International Science and Education Competitive Grants Program.
Itinerary The trip will commence on July 7 and conclude on July 21, 2007. Participants will arrive in Tegucigalpa, the capital city of Honduras, and proceed directly to Santa Lucia to meet their host families. After a few days in a home-stay environment, rich with language, culture and a local agricultural field trip, participants will return to Tegucigalpa for meetings with the government on urban and rural development issues. Participants will be visiting, among other places:
